Angels’ Ervin Santana throws no-hitter against Indians

Ervin Santana threw the ninth no-hitter in Angels history, giving up an unearned run but little else in a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday at Progressive Field.

Santana got Michael Brantley to fly to center for the final out, then turned toward center field and raised his arms in celebration.

Santana, a 28-year-old right-hander, won 17 games last year and improved to 6-8 this season with a 3.47 ERA. In his previous outing, at Baltimore, he carried a no-hitter through 5 1/3 innings.
